School Specific Information

Children Entering Reception

For children entering Reception, parents must complete the common application form.  The local authority is responsible for allocating places for full time education.  They will forward information and forms to the parents of all eligible children on their register.  The information pack will give details of all schools in North Lincolnshire and how to request a place at your chosen school.  Applications can be made in paper form or online.  The authority will then notify the parents direct when the places have been allocated.

In-Year Transfers and Admissions

For children entering school mid-year, parents must complete the common application form In Year Transfer Form Link.

Home Visits and Parent Partnership

We encourage home/school links. Prior to the children entering school a home visit will be offered, this is an opportunity to meet the teacher and practitioner and find out what happens in the setting and at school.  Parents are given a setting brochure which includes lots of information. Parents and new children are invited to our transition sessions prior to starting, to join in with some of the activities we offer.  Staff will be on hand to support children and answer any questions parents may have.

Depending on the number of new starters, we may stagger the intake so that children can be given extra support to settle and feel secure.  If during the first few days a child is unsettled and parents feel the need to stay with them, this will be accommodated.

During the summer term prior to full time admission, parents are invited to a transition meeting to explain fully what will happen in the Reception year.  This includes information about the Foundation Stage Profile assessment, adult directed activities and lunchtime provision.  We also hold a transition meeting in the summer term for parents of children entering Year 1 the following September.
